Public Works - Operator – full-time, permanent
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Department of Public Works is currently seeking a mature, motivated, with a great sense of organization to fill the position mentioned above. Under the direction of the Public Works Supervisor, the daily operator will be responsible in operating heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of roads, buildings and other structures. The Operator will be responsible for performing the following tasks, but are not limited to:
- Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes to build and maintain gravel and asphalt roads, parking lots, drainage systems, sidewalks and signage during construction or related work;
- Inspect and report on the status of roads, directional signs, drainage systems and lighting;
- Operate heavy equipment to repair, resurface roads during construction and / or repairs;
- Operate heavy equipment for snow removal and de-icing of roads, parking lots and sidewalks;
- Perform manual tasks related to maintenance and activities of roads and drainage system.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in heavy equipment operations including loading, unloading and snow removal would be an asset;
- Possess a DZ license for the operation of tandem axle vehicles would be an asset;
- Must be able to work different work schedules and / or work irregular hours (summer and winter) and be available 24 hours a day (on call) during the winter snow maintenance and snow removal period;
- Staying within 30 minutes of the municipal garage to meet the minimum response time required during winter snow maintenance and snow removal would be an asset;
- Knowledge of mechanics and construction would be an asset;
- Provide an updated criminal record and driving record check.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Good proficiency in understanding both French and English.
COMPENSATION The salary based on 40 hours per week is fixed at 54,2.9$-66,026$*.
