Recipients are chosen by a selection committee and receive an engraved medallion during a ceremony. Their names are also added to the municipality’s Wall of Recognition.

How to submit an application

Symbolic Key to the City

The Key to the City is Casselman’s highest distinction. It can be awarded to individuals or organizations that have made outstanding contributions to our community, either nationally or internationally. Nominations must be supported by ten residents. Recipients receive an engraved key during a ceremony, and their names are added to the Wall of Recognition.

Honor Guest Book

All recipients of medallions or keys, as well as honored guests and visitors, can sign the municipality's Honor Guest Book. This book is a valuable archive of notable contributions and visits and is permanently kept in the Mayor’s office.

Recognition Wall

The Recognition Wall is dedicated to honoring individuals, associations, groups, and entities that have made a significant contribution to our community. It will display the names of recipients of a Community Medallion or a symbolic Key to the City, in recognition of their commitment and actions. This wall serves as a visible symbol of gratitude and tribute to those who make a positive impact in Casselman.

Recipient - Community Service Medallion 2026

Norman Bédard

In February 2005, he founded the 2804 Casselman Cadet Corps. The new organization needed a place for its meetings and activities. No problem! For several years, but especially in 2009-2010, Mr. Bédard actively contributed to the revitalization of the Paul-Émile Lévesque Centre, where the cadets still meet today for their training sessions. For the past 20 years, Mr. Bédard has been a member of the Ontario Cadet League, served on the 2804 Support Committee, and has been actively involved with the cadets through his presence, encouragement, and dedication. With a passion for youth leadership and the establishment of discipline, it is an organization he will always cherish. Thanks to its tireless support, for 20 years, more than 450 young people, aged 12 to 18, have had the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills to face life's challenges.
