The Municipality of Casselman is seeking a Recreation Operations and Events Supervisor to ensure the safe and efficient operation of its recreational facilities outside of regular business hours.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Recreation and Leisure Services, the incumbent acts as an on-site supervisor and keyholder. They oversee the daily operations of the arena, community spaces, parks, and events, while providing excellent customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee facilities, events, and rentals
  • Open and close buildings and conduct safety inspections
  • Perform minor repairs and basic maintenance
  • Operate the ice resurfacer (Zamboni) and monitor ice quality
  • Supervise part-time and casual staff
  • Greet patrons and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
  • Provide professional and solutions-oriented customer service

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bilingualism (French and English) required
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in operations, maintenance, or recreation
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently
  • Availability for a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, events)
  • Physical ability to perform operational tasks

SALARY

$76,988.56 to $89,703.45 per year (2026 salary scale)

2026-008 - Operator and Maintenance Attendant (Occasionnal/Part-time - Evenings and Week-ends)

Variable schedule – evenings, weekends, and special events

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Recreation and Leisure Services and the Chief Operator, the assistant operator will support the day-to-day maintenance operations of the J.R. Brisson Complex. The position includes duties related to ice maintenance, equipment upkeep, and general facility care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the maintenance, preparation, and repair of the ice surface.
  • Help clean and maintain equipment such as the ice resurfacer, vehicles, and refrigeration system.
  • Support cleaning tasks throughout the interior and exterior of the complex.
  • Help manually remove snow and ice from entrances, steps, and outdoor walkways.
  • Report any major issues or anomalies to the supervisor.
  • Help enforce facility rules and maintain public order; assist and direct patrons as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the operator.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Friendly, self-motivated, and able to take initiative.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
  • Experience in maintenance or recreation settings is considered an asset.

SALARY

$17.91 - $21.74/hour (2026 salary scale)

2026-009 - Operator 2 and Maintenance Attendant (Occasionnal/Part-time - Evenings and week-ends)

Variable schedule based on operational needs – evenings, weekends, and special events

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Recreation and Leisure Services, the Operator 2 ensures the cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning of municipal recreational facilities, including ice surfaces, parks, and mechanical systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and maintain ice surfaces (Zamboni)
  • Maintain mechanical and refrigeration systems
  • Clean and maintain equipment and indoor/outdoor spaces
  • Perform minor repairs (carpentry, plumbing, painting)
  • Set up venues for community events
  • Ensure safety, enforce regulations, and assist the public
  • Maintain parks, sports fields, and splash pads

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma
  • Experience in building and ice surface maintenance
  • Knowledge of building mechanics
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • People skills, autonomy, and initiative
  • Zamboni training (asset)
  • Provide a criminal record and driving record check

SALARY

$25.69 - $30.37 / hour (2026 salary scale)

Municipal summer jobs in 2026

Several summer jobs are available at the Municipality of Casselman in 2026.

Compensation: $20.16 per hour (2026 salary scale)

2026-01 PARK ATTENDANTS (2 positions) (late April to late August)

The candidate will perform daily tasks, such as visually inspecting structures, daily maintenance of all safety surfaces in the seven municipal parks, and preparing all parks for spring opening. The candidate will also clean all park areas, including litter collection, tree trimming, and edging maintenance during the season. Duties will also include providing janitorial services in the restrooms and wading pool changing rooms. The candidate will also conduct a daily inspection of the wading pool and report any defects to the Director of Sports. They will also be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of the municipal ball fields. (late April to late August) Use the online form to apply.

The student will support the team with the daily operations of the JR Brisson complex. This includes preparing the ice for the complex's reopening in August, various maintenance tasks for equipment and community rooms, and painting and sanitizing the entire complex. 2026-005 TOURISM KIOSQUE ATTENDANT - (late April - late August) 

The successful candidate will operate the visitor information center and museum in Casselman. The position requires the candidate to greet visitors, promote local businesses, and inform visitors about all the attractions in the area. The candidate must be familiar with the Prescott & Russell area and be able to guide any visitor using a map on how to reach the site. The candidate will be expected to learn about the history of the municipality of Casselman while presenting historical artifacts to visitors within the museum. The candidate will be required to create displays in the visitor information center to promote local activities and places to visit. Keep the space clean and greet visitors with a smile. 2026-006 COMMUNITY EVENTS ATTENDANT - (late April to late August)

This student will develop a program of community activities. Activities will range from summer sports and art projects to intergenerational picnics, outdoor film screenings, and various activities in the municipality's parks. This student will facilitate the delivery of free summer programming for residents. The activity schedule will run Monday through Friday with a varied program to reach all segments of the community, including low-income families and children with special needs.
