The Municipality of Casselman is seeking a Director of Public Works, Physical Resources and Engineering Services to play a key leadership role within the senior management team. During a period of sustained growth and development, the successful candidate will contribute directly to the planning, modernization, and expansion of municipal infrastructure to meet the current and future needs of the community. We are looking for an accomplished manager recognized for strong leadership, strategic vision, and expertise in municipal engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Public Works and Physical Resources teams.
  • Plan and oversee municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Manage operating and capital budgets.
  • Plan infrastructure maintenance and renewal programs.
  • Advise senior management and Municipal Council on technical matters and investment priorities.
  • Oversee the maintenance of roads, water distribution systems, sanitary and storm sewer systems, municipal buildings, and equipment.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, public safety, and effective asset management.
  • Collaborate with consultants, developers, and government partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Member in good standing of Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in infrastructure, public works, or municipal engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management and staff supervision experience.
  • Experience in infrastructure project management and contract administration.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).
  • Valid driver's licence.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and priority-management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships.

Working Conditions

  • Permanent full-time position (40 hours per week).
  • Salary (2026): $124,072 to $148,886.
  • Primarily office-based work with regular field visits.
  • Flexible work schedule based on operational and project requirements.
  • Attendance at Municipal Council meetings.
  • Occasional availability outside regular working hours, as required or during emergencies.
