Casselman receives more than $5.6 million for improvements to its Pumping Station 1
The Municipality of Casselman is receiving more than $5.6 million for improvements to its Pumping Plant 1. This funding will be used to increase the capacity of Casselman's main wastewater pumping station. Planned work includes, among other things, a new electrical room, an additional pump, a bypass line, an upgrade to the alum pumping system, and a new 1,880 m pressure line.
Expected Results
Once all work is completed, the pumping station's capacity will be doubled from 118 L/s to 236 L/s and will be able to serve approximately 1,844 new homes.
Casselman Mayor Geneviève Lajoie welcomes the project:
"We are preparing for the future needs of the next 25 years. It's encouraging to know that the provincial government, with its financial assistance, is supporting our efforts to build more housing. I would like to thank Stéphane Sarrazin, MPP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell for championing this project."
For his part, Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MPP Stéphane Sarrazin affirms his government's commitment to building additional housing:
"I am pleased that the Ministry of Infrastructure is supporting small municipalities, allowing Casselman to modernize its pumping station and improve the reliability and efficiency of services for all residents. This investment makes a concrete contribution to the development and sustainable growth of the community, which is one of our priorities."
The total project cost is estimated at $7,687,500, and the municipality is responsible for 23% of the cost, or just over $2 million.
