NO blue-green algae in Casselman

Tests for the presence of blue-green algae have been conducted

The Municipality of Casselman is constantly taking proactive measures to protect the quality of its potable water source coming from the South Nation River. Tests for the presence of blue-green algae have been conducted, and the results are clear: there is NO blue-green algae in the Casselman water intake protection zone. The Ontario Clean Water Agency is conducting rigorous monitoring to detect the slightest presence of cyanobacteria in the water. In its public posting of August 28, 2025, South Nation Conservation also confirmed that there is no presence of blue-green algae at the boat ramp areas located in Casselman, Embrun, Chesterville, and Plantagenet. We remain vigilant and proactive in addressing this situation. When necessary, updates will be provided to you via our website, our Facebook page, and the Bciti+ mobile app.
